Every so often something so lovely happens that you just don't know what to say to do it justice.
At times such as these we turn to pictures.
Behold
Surely not?
It is.
Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That is one big knitted smoothie bottle wearing its very own knitted woolly hat. Having never seen the like before we weren't really sure what to do with it. So we put it on a pedestal in reception and topped it with a tiara.
Check out the detail.
Pretty amazing, no?
It gets better.
We know. Little hats. Lots of them. 222 to be precise, now that can't be any sort of an accident. For those of you trying to visualise such a wonder struggle no further...
Look.
There were little bobbles, huge bobbles and no bobbles at all. There were light ones and dark ones and patterned ones and plain ones. There were sparkly hats and character hats and best of all there was...
Francis the Fisherman complete with pink cheeks and catch of the day.
All this and with no note of any sort. S Chilcott whoever you are, you've made our Big Knit. We promise to send you something lovely in the post and hope you get to see this one day.
After receiving this parcel we were briefly tempted to call it a day, surely nothing can be cuter than Francis? If you know better you've nine days and counting to get your hats in.
How on earth is anyone supposed to compete with that???? LOL! Amazing piece of work. Hats off (pun intended) to S. Chilcott, and I believe she has earned a year supply of smoothies.

hi it's me sarah chilcott,
i did put info in, and a photo the box prehaps it slipped underneath the tissue paper,
it wasn't just me, the ladies of
Sherborne and District Machine Knitting Club had their needles working hard. We started to knit the hats at our agm, cos i try to keep it short and sweet, and i asked them to go home and knit more, our aim was 100.
Well we don't don't hang about, some were made on the knitting machine which took seconds to knit, and much longer to sew up.
Gail knitted the bottle,(and the fisherman) IT WAS HER HUSBANDS CHALLENGE, she'e not one to let anything beat her, and didn't she do a brill job.
Glad to be of help, our meetings are help in the Senior Lunch club in Sherborne so we like to keep it in the family so to speak.
Many thanks for such wonderful comments
sarah

I'm very proud of what the ladies have managed to pull off here! great work. I can assure you that being in Gails extended family holds numerous benefits; cardi's / tea cosies / peg bags / socks / jumpers for the dog / knitted cupcakes and such like. I think any future wool shortages can be linked to the Sherboure & District Machine Knitting Club! hehe :-) Becky

Hello Sarah.
Thanks for commenting, I'm really glad you found the post, and it's great to have a name to put to that inital. I didn't get your letter which is a real shame, but then the bottle had been admired by a lot of folk before it got to me.
It's magnificent. It really is, and it's still on that pedestal being cooed at by all who pass. Thank you once again to you and all at Sherbourne and District Machine Knitting Club. As soon as the post calms down I'll send you something to say thank you.
