Fuelled by a combination of smoothies and home made flapjacks, these fine chaps have cleared around 9 miles of roads and lanes around their village and the surrounding area.
Back in March they'd collected almost 400 sacks of litter totalling a whopping 5.8 tonnes and are still going strong, determined to make where they live a cleaner, safer place.

They're also pretty good at juggling (apparently it's a requirement for anyone wishing to join in)

We think they deserve medals, pats on the back and never-ending cups of tea all round.
1. Scott K's girlfriend, Jen, made Hester's cake using our kiwis, apples and limes smoothie. It went down a treat. In case you weren't sold first time round.

2. IT Samuel (who you may recognise as Sustainable Gorilla or Pink Bishop on a Lunch Break) got his sister to illustrate his most recent cast with some fish. To date, Samuel has broken all his toes, 4 fingers, his coccyx, wrist and his right heel as well as tearing his Achilles tendon, lightly shredding some knee cartilage and putting a gardening fork through his foot (plus the welly he was wearing at the time). He also tore his right bicep, failed to get it repaired and now only has a monocep. So his sister has her work cut out.

3. Postman Pat came to visit
So now you're up to date.
A few weeks ago we announced our competition to get your words on our juice labels. All you had to do was provide us with a caption to go under this little guy.

We're pretty sure you liked our peaches and passion fruits recipe last time round, so it’s back by popular demand. Not only is it top of the list of recipes that you ask to be returned, it’s also spreading the word about a brand new campaign, dressed up in a fancy new pack.
The campaign in question is called the Great Recipe Archive. With the help of our friends at We Are What We Do, we’re hunting out lots of proper wholesome recipes – the ones that get passed down through the family. And we thought it would be good if you could find all of these recipes in one place, submitted by people from far and wide. So if you have such a recipe, upload it here for all to see. And check out the site to see what’s up there so far. Every week from November 1st, we'll choose a 'Recipe of the Month' and the recipe author will win a case of smoothies (to be that winner, just get all your friends to vote for your recipe). Get involved here and then get cooking.
We've seen a carrot shaped like Buzz Lightyear, a cloud which looked like Great Britain, but never before have we seen a face in a smoothie. Until now.
Sarah got in touch to let us know she was finishing off the last of her strawberries and bananas smoothie, but decided to top it off with some mangoes and passion fruits smoothie and hey presto, the smiling face above appeared. (She's promised us there was no jiggery/technology pokery going on.)
On Saturday, I went along to Hanbury Hall in Worcestershire to meet our bee competition winner Julian, Tim the beekeeper and Neil the Head Gardener for an afternoon of bees, bees and more bees.
Julian, Neil and Tim
We had a tour of the beautiful gardens and grounds from Neil (including the mushroom house) and then Tim gave us an introduction to bee keeping.
Tim has 8 hives at Hanbury Hall which this year yielded 250 jars of honey. He taught us how to hold a frame, how a hive works and how to mark a queen bee when you spot her.
Bee pens Then it was on with the bee suits
Julian got to wear the suit as paid for by the proceeds of Buy One Get One Bee whilst I had to wear a suit for a 10 year old as there were no adult bee suits left.
Once suited, we then got to inspect the innocent hive and meet some bees.
The innocent hive After meeting the bees and asking more home beekeeping questions, we all got given a jar of Tim's honey
And then Julian and his wife, Nicky went off for a proper afternoon tea (though sadly the chocolate potato cake had sold out).
We've made a little film of the day (including Tim answering lots of your questions) so watch this space for the official premiere. For now though, massive thanks to Tim, Neil and the catering staff at Hanbury Hall for such a brilliant afternoon, to Julian and Nicky for being such enthusiastic winners and to my mum for being an excellent camera assistant.
Here's to Buy One Get One Bee coming back again next year.
If, like me, you're slowly but surely getting hooked on The Great British Bake Off (I was convinced I could smell the scones in this week's show), and it's inspiring you to get baking again, we have just the recipe for you.
This comes courtesy of the lovely Jen who is busy working on setting up her own cake company and wrote to tell us how she uses our drinks in her baking, specifically when icing the cakes. The ones you see above are lime, passion fruit and mango cupcakes, but she reassures us there are loads of combinations you can try, such as a banana sponge with pineapples, bananas and coconuts icing, or a chocolate sponge with cranberries, blueberries and cherries icing.
If you'd like to have a bash, here's Jen's recipe :
For the lime sponge :
- 110g self raising flour
- 110g caster sugar
- 110g margarine
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 large free-range eggs
- Rind and juice of 2 limes
Combine all ingredients with a whisk until fluffy. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 170C for 20 minutes.
For the icing :
- 300g icing sugar
- 100g unsalted butter (at room temperature)
- 150ml of your favourite smoothie (she used our mangoes and passion fruits in this recipe)
Whisk the icing sugar and butter together until fluffy. Add innocent fruit smoothie a 1/3rd at a time (don't let the icing get too runny, if it does add a bit more icing sugar) Once the sponge is at room temperature - ice your cakes & decorate.
And then voila, you can amaze your friends and family with your creativity and technically they'll be having some fruit at the same time. Cake has never been so good.
Ready, steady, bake.
PS - if you're really into all things cake, check out the Cake Britain exhibition at the Future Gallery in London this weekend.
