I cycle past this building on the Goldhawk Road everyday.
There is no sign above the door and no one ever seems to go in or out.
I've no idea whether it's a hat shop, someone's house or some sort of secret organisation with funny handshakes, millinery passwords and impeccable head dress sense
Sometimes in the evening, a light comes on and the hat becomes a lampshade.
Other nights, it's all dark.
I'm considering setting up vigil in the cafe opposite.
Partly to see who comes in and out.
Mainly to see if you get a badge when you join SSH*.

This could be the bananaphonejackers place!

I think it used to be a brothel! Think there was a big old raid there a while ago... No a clue what it is now though but it fills me with bafflement and wonder every time I walk past!

It's London's thinnest house http://www.shadyoldlady.com/location.php?loc=99
A famous photographer/artist used to live there (the name escapes me).
And it wasn't a brothel - that place used to be a few doors down. Not there anymore.

It was Juergen Teller Dan.
Before he lived there, its first use was as a millinery which explains the hat. It sold for over half a million clams back in 2005.

You're right, the brothel was a couple of doors down. I think the hat palce is actually the thinnest building in London though
