We've just made a brand new telly ad, bright and fresh for the New Year (you can see our previous two here and here). It stars our very own Dan, who has worked here since we started, has got a good beard (he shaved a bit for the ad), writes the funny stuff on our labels and is responsible for the vast majority of our blog posts.
We hope you like it.
I saw this on Channel 4 in the early hours of this morning (I think it was then, but I was tired!). I just grinned. Love it!

Love the voiceover!

i think the ad is amzing and the guy looks like jesus...well this is how i picture jesus to be like

Big Wow. I love innocent ad's, makes life seem happier. hehe. X
p.s i agree with the jesus bit...but nt sure bwt the pink shirt!

Hi,
Im loving the ad. the Voice over made me chuckle.
The pink t.shirt needs to go. Men in pink is wrong wrong wrong wrong.
why not go with the Dark red of your logo (it still has undertones of Pink which i guess is allowed)
Posted by: Kasia | January 03, 2007 at 05:04 PM
Hi, loved it. The man does look like Jesus. The voiceover was quite funny.
Posted by: Emma | January 03, 2007 at 05:16 PM
I think the Pink t-shirt is great as Dan looks like a hippy-healty-green living type whom you'd expect to be wearing a brown and orange jumper with triangle shapes.(sorry dan)
So really its showing hes like everyone else, healty-green living with style.
So, PINK it up!!!!!!!
Posted by: paddy | January 03, 2007 at 05:23 PM
There are no Chickens but, i'd still say a top notch ad, the strawberry steals the show from the one you call Dan. Keep up the good work
Posted by: Leadbear | January 03, 2007 at 05:28 PM
There is nothing wrong with a man wearing pink! (as long as it isn't a tutu, ballgown, shoes etc.)Love the advert, makes me feel very healthy. Particularly enjoyed my innocent smoothie at lunchtime and am trying to talk the bosses into re-carpeting the office with astroturf. Not working.Boring.x
Posted by: Anna | January 03, 2007 at 05:40 PM
Good ad!! Well done 'Jesus' turning all that fruit into smoothies! Mind you.....loaves & fishes flavour would probably be too disgusting!! Even though the ad is good, it doesn't really show the public that you're all as mad as a box of frogs!!
Bootsie
Posted by: Bootsie | January 03, 2007 at 05:45 PM
'no chickens'?! ... i didnt know you put chickens in your smoothies!!! ... although i had noticed you dont have a vegan thingy on your bottles ... you need a chicken-free logo on each bottle, at least ... i can't believe you use chickens in your smoothies ... i'm going to tell the soil association or some organisation like that
Posted by: pete | January 03, 2007 at 05:51 PM
Ace, advert. Really great to see a new advert!! Really refreshing from all of the 'sofa' adverts.
p.s. Love the pine table in the advert, I need one just like it!
Posted by: Kate | January 03, 2007 at 06:04 PM
i love this advert..its very sweet..i like how you have had all the innocent bottles popping up in the drass at the end!
Posted by: katy | January 03, 2007 at 06:06 PM
I wish that I liked this ad -- but I think that the ad perpetuates the idea that people who like healthy living (e.g., smoothies) are bearded and "organic" (nothing personal, Dan). I think that the ad is dated in terms of the general concept as well as of the choice of voice and tone. It wouldn't have seemed out of place on TV in the 1970s. Why not appeal to a less obvious sensibility?
Posted by: Catherine | January 03, 2007 at 06:08 PM
The first advert was VERY good, the second was good (but not so "very") and the third one was - well, boring. Sorry, but the bearded man in the pink T shirt really doesn't work.
Posted by: Sue | January 03, 2007 at 06:31 PM
i like it. i think the t-shirt should be orange though.
Posted by: lily | January 03, 2007 at 06:33 PM
great advert, does dan's finger get dipped into every smoothie? or was that just a special appearence for the ad...
doesn't he look lovely in pink.
Posted by: alison | January 03, 2007 at 06:34 PM
I'm glad you kept the 'plopping' sound.
Dan, was the 'Jesus' look and the 'God'-like voiceover intended? ;o)
Posted by: Hilde | January 03, 2007 at 06:41 PM
Who care's about the pink Tshirt, the good looking guy and the delicious smoothies are very nice thank you :o)
Posted by: Margaret Lim | January 03, 2007 at 06:46 PM
great voice over, not tried grapes and stawberries looks gooooood, anyway can't be Jesus he always wore white.
Posted by: ray | January 03, 2007 at 06:53 PM
Great advert! and cool T-shirt colour. Pink = healthy to me! although, I have to agree that it is definitely very tree huggy, which is fine, but you should do something different soon.
Posted by: Kat | January 03, 2007 at 07:41 PM
very good advert but i agree about the colour of the shirt not too sure about that hmmmm pink
Posted by: patrick aherne | January 03, 2007 at 07:43 PM
By the way Dan, you're cute too ;o)
And seeing that the pink T-shirt is a hit, maybe you and Ops Matt can start that fashion blog together?
Posted by: Hilde | January 03, 2007 at 08:01 PM
I totally agree with Catherine 03 6.08pm! There is nothing either humorous, eyecatching or exciting about this ad.
Posted by: Judy Adams | January 03, 2007 at 08:35 PM
Real men wear pink.
Real men drink innocent smoothies.
:D
Love the new advert!
Posted by: Elizabeth | January 03, 2007 at 08:37 PM
I'm a Christian and No he doesn't look like Jesus. Pink is ok. Dan is lush.

Love it. Peace and harmony and LOADS OF FRUIT! YESSS!
Posted by: Ginny | January 03, 2007 at 10:05 PM
Thing I love about Innocent is the approachabilitiness of you as a company. So I think the voiceover doesn't match your image as well as the one in the last two ads.
But I like the pink. It has lots of approachabilitiness. (As does Dan.)
Posted by: Jen | January 03, 2007 at 11:07 PM
Takes a real man to wear pink!
I think orange would look more fruity and juicy
Can't wait to see it on telly :-)
Posted by: Anne | January 04, 2007 at 12:11 AM
Am I the only one who's a little irritated by the "nasal" sound of the male voiceover, particularly noticeable near the end?
Surely smoothies are bursting with goodness and we don't want someone who sounds like he's got a cold coming on (bless him).
Oh, and I think you NEED to re~iterate that there's nothing in innocent smoothies EXCEPT FRUIT!!! My daughter loves them, but keeps saying you must add or do something to stabilise it ... Don't worry, I told her if she didn't believe it, Father Christmas won't come next year! She's going to have to wait a looooong time :))))

love it...would love it more if it had guinea pigs in...not in the blender though, just hanging out on the table. Is Dan a guinea pig man?

I love it,
just got to ask though... what is the little white thing that pops up and disappears in the background?
PS say hello to my cousin Jenny Whitmore at Innocent!
Posted by: Fiona | January 04, 2007 at 09:32 AM
Hi Fiona,
The white thing that pops up in the background is actually Dan. You can see a higher quality version of the ad here, where you can make him out a bit better:
http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/bored/gallery/adverts/
I'll say hello to Jenny.
Posted by: ted at innocent | January 04, 2007 at 09:43 AM
The ad is informative and fun, but I hate the pink t-shirt, as it sticks out like a sore thumb. It sort of takes attention away from everything else. I would have gone for a bright 'fruit' colour, like orange, yellow or green, in keeping with the colours of everything else.
Posted by: Carolyn | January 04, 2007 at 10:19 AM
maybe the pink t-shirt is slightly off? maybe a colour that did not detract from the natural colour of an innocent smoothie would have been better? love the stop frame-ish effect and the way the sky moves...a great happy ad!
Posted by: alicja mccarthy | January 04, 2007 at 10:30 AM
Wonderful, fantastic...could do with one now...Smoothie that is, not pink t shirt, although I think he looks great. Just want to add - didn't see a single 'hat' over Christmas - local Sainsburys really let you down!!!! :(
Posted by: Sue Province | January 04, 2007 at 10:44 AM
Love the advert, fun but to the point. Not sure about the t-shirt. Not because don't think men shouldn't wear pink, but it's a bit insipid for Dan. He needs a stronger colour, I go for the bright fruit colour theme.
Posted by: genevieve | January 04, 2007 at 10:47 AM
I think Dan's a bit yummy, though I also think orange would be a beter colour t shirt - the pink is a little too blamange (sure there should be a c in there somewhere). Can't comment on voice over as yet to figure out how to turn volume up on new computer!
Posted by: Caroline | January 04, 2007 at 10:53 AM
mmmm, love the advert but i think the teeshirt in pink is tooooo much, sage green or khaki would be nice,
love the smoothies!!

This ad is very good but I LOVED the former ad...oh and the T shirt is great.....at least it is not lime green. Good stuff guys!
Posted by: Duppy | January 04, 2007 at 01:10 PM
...Oh and doesn't the guy in the ad look like Romeo Stoddart, the lead singer from the Magic Numbers?..uncanny.
Posted by: Duppy | January 04, 2007 at 01:12 PM
Perfect!
Posted by: fiona | January 04, 2007 at 01:19 PM
well, as long as it's a Howies organic T shirt, who cares what colour it is?
Posted by: ollie | January 04, 2007 at 03:02 PM
The ad is great, the voiceover's great, the smoothies are so beyond great that there has not yet been a word invented to describe them, but the greatest thing of all, with respect to this advertisement, is Dan (is this the guy's name?) - he is, in a word, 'Schaaawing'. (I hope that's how it's spelled. You remember, from the 'Wayne and Garth' movies). Can you please put Dan on all your telly advertising from now on, and also a bit more of him in the newsletter e-mails, too? Cheers. Happy New Year.
Posted by: Sinead | January 04, 2007 at 04:41 PM
Good voice over...but why is "Jesus" (lets call him) not smiling?! He looks bored! If I had an innocent smoothie in front of me ad be grinning! (Indeed, if I did all the things Jesus did ad be pretty smug!)
Get him to smile!
Posted by: David Mannheim | January 04, 2007 at 04:52 PM
Love the ad - really shows the amazingly good things that go into your smoothies. If I put in a regular order for a crate of smoothies every week for the next 10 years would you consider throwing Dan in as well? No....... oh well,it was worth a try! Keep up the good work. Love your products almost as much as I love the newsletters and the daft things Dan writes on the cartons.
Posted by: Crickle | January 04, 2007 at 08:01 PM
It looks as if the banana skins go in...!
great ad........
not sure orange is the answer......

Just watched your new advert. Loving the passion you have for your project! Keep it up, destroy the world's cynicism, go you!
Also want to say I think the Pink T-shirt is fine on consideration. At first I wondered if another colour would be better, but from a designerly point of view it matches the smoothie- you know, shades of pink. Think pink for 2007. Is that what you intended?

i knitted lots of litle hats and eally enjoyed doing it. Even got the 83yr old neighbour to join in and she had no idea what innocent was (gasp! Horror!)BUT no Sainsburys in Perth Scotland so never got a glimpse of any actually keeping the botles warm. love everything about innocent; product, image,
ethics, approachability of folk. Makes a happier world. Thanks.

Hi Margarett,
Thanks for helping out with the the little knitted hats for Supergran. We're sorry to hear that you were unable to see them all on the shelves of Sainburys (I imagine smoothies in Scotland could do with a hat or two in the cold). You can see some pictures of the bottles with hats on our flickr group here though...

Hello Innocent people,
You know I love you... but from my french point of view, I have a problem with the pink t-shirt.
You see, the problem with pink is... it really is pink.
Good ad, though. Congratulations !
Looking forward to seeing your marketing in Frogland,
Anne.

I think that the ad is great. I saw it really early and I thought it was fantastic! I love innocent smoothies!

Well, hello to you! I LOVED the advert! It makes me want to just run out to Tesco(4 miles away) and buy them out of smoothies! Oh yes!
Posted by: JJ | January 17, 2007 at 11:44 AM
Jesus would not wear pink! The only thing I can think of that would have made this advert any better wud be a comical ummmm noise when he tests the smoothie, a bit like the noise the black guy makes in the Mint Credit Card advert.
Posted by: Kenny | January 18, 2007 at 10:44 AM
It is so awsome i love it.the way you put the fruit in the blender is very funny
Posted by: Georgina | January 18, 2007 at 11:52 AM
HI guys,
I know I'm late with this, but I have to say that Dan is GORGEOUS in this advert.
And why did you drop the man with the sexy voice for the voice-over?? Bring him back, NOW!
Oh, and I am addicted to the "detox" smoothies, don't care if they're 1 portion or 5. They rock.
x

its too the point - love it !!
The voice ?? Surely its the same man who voiced over Bagpuss? Made me feel all warm and cozy. Aww thanks !:)
