Maybe I'm being dim (at least I'm saving on carbon dioxide by not being too bright...), but what advantage does turning your thermostat UP during summer have?

Not sure about that either. Maybe Americans have weird thermostats that work the other way round...?

It means "Turn the thermostat on your air conditioning up 2 degrees in summer."

You can also open a window!

Or maybe even air conditioning, which might well be upside down over there I'm not sure.

Presumably to do with reducing the amount of air conditioning used?

Yes, we weird Americans have thermostats that work the other way around. In other words, they air condition. So turning the thermostat up in the summer means raising the temperature to which the house is cooled down to. Save on cooling a couple degrees.
I recently visited London and fell in love with Innocent smoothies. (And the ad is so cute!) Any chance of you selling them to America?

Thanks for clearing that up Siia. Sadly, no plans at the moment for innocent to come to the USA. Europe is keeping us very busy.

My Biology professor made that movie an extra credit option. That doesn't mean I watched it though. As for the thermostats, I don't know what good they could do during the summer. Having a good thermostat in the winter could have a larger impact. The problem is nobody talks about global warming in the winter.

May be even HVAC, which might well be upside down over there I'm not sure.
