Juliet is our very own expert knitter (she's the lady who made this year's patterns for our new pattern booklet), and she sent us a pattern guide for this dear little lapland hat for you all to have a go at.
Nordic Hat
Abbreviations:
K - Knit
P - Purl
M1 - Make 1 make one stitch by picking up horizontal loop before next stitch and knitting into back of it.
St st - Stocking Stitch
Tog - Together
St - Stitches
Using two colours, (A & B), makes this hat look really fun. Try different colour combinations to match innocent smoothies.
Ear flap
Knit 2
Cast on 2 stitches in Colour A.
Row 1 - K1 M1 K1 (3st)
Row 2 - P1 M1 P2 (4st)
Row 3 - K1 M1 K3 (5st)
Row 4 - P1 M1 P4 (6st)
Continue in stocking stitch for 4 rows starting with a K row.
Keep each flap on a spare needle.
Main Hat
Row 1 - K6 stitches from first ear flap, cast on 10 stitches, K6 stitches from second ear flap. Cast on 6 stitches (28st).
Continue in st st for 3 more rows in colour A.
Change to colour B for 4 rows of st st.
Row 9 - (K2 in colour A, K2
Row 10 - (P2 in colour A, P2 in colour B) repeat until the end of the row.
Continue in colour B for 4 rows.
Row 15 - (K2tog K2) repeat until the end of the row (21st)
Row 16 - Purl
Row 17 - (K2tog K1) repeat until the end of the row (14st)
Row 18 - Purl
Row 19 - Knit
Row 20 - P2tog across all stitches (7st)
Row 21 - Knit
Row 22 - Purl
Row 23 - K2tog to last stitch K1 (4st)
Row 24 - P2tog twice. Pass 1st st over 2nd st and Fasten off.
Making up
To finish sew up and attach multi colour plaits to the top of hat and bottom of each earflap.

this hat is so cute, but it is really difficult to understand what you mean by doing it.
