kids design competition winners (& a new kids recipe)

Kidscomp

A little while ago we held a competition to see if you could design our kids cartons. We had loads of brilliant entries – thank you to everyone who drew, cut, pasted and glued. We chose four excellent winners, all of them announced here previously, and now looking very smart in their finished glory below.

We'd definitely suggest it's worth clicking on each to see them bigger.

And here's our new kids recipe that the winning designs will all be featured on... Please say hello to pomegranates, blueberries & blackcurrants. Look out for the winning designs, and the new recipe in the shops from now.

designers of the future

We had loads of great entries to our kids design competition. After some heated debates and a few sulks, we whittled them down to a shortlist of finalists and our grand judge, children's author Lauren Child, then chose the overall winners.

Each winner not only gets a year's supply of smoothies and a visit to their school from one of our DGVs, their designs will also feature on our kids smoothies cartons this summer.

You can see all the winners and runners up in a bit more detail in our winners gallery but for their world premiere, we thought it only right to showcase the winning entries right here:

Top prize winner: Holly J aged 7    Favourite fruit: Strawberry

Well done to Holly. The judges were particularly impressed by her astronaut dude as well as her activity of making a walkie talkie from two kids cartons and a bit of string. This was rigorously tested in our car park by Tansy who can confirm it works a treat.

Top prize winner: Max H, aged 9    Favourite fruit: Peach

Lovely use of colour and a keen eye for detail in this design by Max. The judges also liked the fact you needed a friend to play the fruit tasting game with and that in the process, you got to try lots of different fruit as well.

Top prize winner: Lizzie N, aged 12.   Favourite Fruit: Cherry

What a cracking idea by Lizzie. The judges just loved how she made Sudoku into Frudoku. Some really good drawings of fruit along with an excellent bearded lady dude made this entry our designer Kat's overall favourite.

Top prize winner: Charlotte E, aged 16 Favourite fruit: Mango

The judges liked the idea of of combining making something cool with recycling. Charlotte's idea to make your own bin out of a smoothie box means you get 'a cool bin and a cleaner planet'. We couldn't have put it better ourselves, Charlotte.

Thanks to everyone who entered and make sure you keep your eyes peeled for these winning designs on shelf this summer.

two weeks to go

Win1

You might remember our kids design competition from a few months ago. The deadline is in a couple of weeks (January 31st) so we thought we'd give you a quick nudge to dig out any entries that might have fallen down the back of the sofa.

To get you all inspired for the final push here are a few of our favourite entries so far (all worth a click to see them bigger)...

Nine year old Kai shows us how wizards do it. You can't go wrong with wizards.

Charlotte's entry into the 15-16's category explores the intricacies of grape bowling.

And finally Douglas (who is nine as well) impressed us with his plant pot idea and smiling face swapsie.

The winner of each category (under 8's, 9-11, 12-14, 15-16) will have their designs printed on millions of our kids cartons this spring/summer. Five runners up from each category will receive a year’s supply of smoothies and a visit to their school by our DGV to hand out smoothies. Pretty good prizes that are well worth having a pop at we think.

You can still download the entry form here if you fancy.

painting the future

Win

We have a competition to tell you about. We want kids to design our packaging, and the best designs will end up being used in real life – in the shops and everything. Quite exciting. As you might know, we quite like putting different stuff on the back of the kids smoothie packs, to keep the young ones entertained (and sometimes even educated). But we figure that as a bunch of old people, we should let the kids have a go themselves.

There are four age categories (under 8's, 9-11, 12-14, 15-16), with the very best design from each age group appearing on our packs in spring/summer 2008. And five runners up from each category will receive a year’s supply of smoothies and a visit to their school by our DGV to hand out smoothies. We’re not necessarily looking for amazing works of art – what we’re after is creativity, smart ideas and something that’s relevant to what we do. The judging will be done by children's author/illustrator Lauren Child, creator of Charlie and Lola and Clarice Bean. And that’s that. It’s a pretty exciting thing to have a go at – visit www.innocentkids.co.uk/win to find out more.
