merry christmas

Dsc01878 an innocent angel hand delivered to Fruit Towers by Danielle. Thanks Danielle.

Things have been getting a bit quieter round here. Christmas is on the way and people are disappearing, back to Kent and Derbyshire and Scotland and Australia.

But before this blog has a nap in front of a roaring log fire, or gets galloping indigestion (much more likely), we'd just like to wish you a happy Christmas, whatever you're up to. We'll be back in the New Year. Thank you for reading and commenting this year. If there's anything we can do to make the blog better in 2008, just let us know.

PS because we're not going to be around much at Christmas, we're turning the comments moderating thing on. Should stop the blog becoming a spamfest.

our blog's first birthday

Dsc05583
Dan, Hannah and Ted - the innocent people who blog a lot

We've been blogging for a whole year. In that time, eighteen different innocent people have written 403 posts, you've made 2349 comments, we've had a big debate and a pop sensation.

Here's our first post. It was rubbish, but as they say, things could only get better. And they did. Slightly.

Thanks for reading, commenting and staying involved. If you have any thoughts as to what we should be blogging about in year two, post a comment.

Best suggestion received before 6pm on Sunday 10th June wins a load of drinks and a fancy hooded top.

some news about spam

We've had lots of comment spam over the last few days (ironic, considering Claire's recent post). This is the sort of stuff that looks like a proper comment but is actually just a random message, usually with a link back to a naughty Russian website, which might often feature the word 'sex' in the URL.

So we're going to turn the comment moderation facility on for a few days, until our friends at Typepad (the people who manage the blog) fix the spam.

We will still be posting all comments from regular people as usual.

Thanks.

blogging in danish

Our Scandinavian blog has been in existence for a little while now, so we thought we'd point you towards it.

Scandiblog

A good understanding of Danish will help you get more out of it, but for those of you who don't speak that language, there are plenty of nice pictures and video clips to check out.

facebook love

Oldapple_1
old computers like this are unable to cope with the power of facebook

Facebook is one of those smart social networking sites that people seem to enjoy using. I don't know any facts about it, but it's probably got about 7 billion users and was no doubt invented in a bedroom in Chingford. That's the way these things usually happen.

Anyway, we were chuffed to find that there are a couple of groups dedicated to singing our praises, with a total number of 1500 members.

Have a look at them here and here.

And there's a group for people who hate us too.

[we have been informed that you need to register with Facebook to see these groups, so you know what to do if you want to see them]

the oldest blogger in the world?

Olivetypingherblog

Olive is 107 years old, and was born in Broken Hill, Australia on 20th October 1899. That's not last century, but the century before.

This is her blog. I'm going to read every post.

Go Olive.

helping to make dreams happen

Front

Here's a great story. Nothing to do with us really, apart from the fact that if these folks hadn't seen this link in our weekly newsletter, they might not be about to build their dream home.

without moderation

Just a note to say that we've stopped checking all comments before they're posted. Since we started the blog, we've only had one unpublishable comment, so we thought we'd stop checking and allow comments to be instantaneously published.

But please don't see this as an excuse to start getting rude. My mum reads this blog.

we're away

Closed_sign

In case you hadn't noticed, the innocent blog is quiet at the moment. That's because we're on our Christmas holidays. But never fear, we'll be back in 2007. In the mean time, shut down your computer and go finish off the brandy butter/Yule log/big fat crossword.
