This is the main door into and out of fruit towers. And every night that I go through it I get the fear.

What happened to the burglar's entrance? Do you still have that??

So many offices have the same exit button / fire alarm set up. Is there some kind of planning regulation that says they have to go together? Or maybe it's an inside joke amongst the contractors who install this stuff ;)

So how many times did anyone press the right button? :-)

I guess I kinda assumed that it was somewhat of a design plan so that in the event of a fire you could hit the alarm as you secured your place as the first person running away from the nasty hot stuff and nastier black stuff.
Now I'm thinking they just have a wicked sense of humour.
Is it actually a fire alarm though? It's green and the symbol looks more like one you see on Emergency Exit signs. I would have guessed then that it disables the automatic lock, meaning that in said emergency people don't have to keep pressing the left (or right?? ;o) ) button to open the door - just push and run away.

Hi Jen.
I think you could be right you know. It would be red if it was a fire alarm in thinking about it.
I can go through that door in peace from now on knowing that if I press the wrong button it won't mean I'll evacuate the whole of fruit towers.
Good knowledge.

OK. Here's how to do Left and right.
Hold your hands in front of you, palms down. Thumbs facing in (towards each other). The LEFT one will make a L shape. x

thats all well and good, but what if you hold them the other way and then the other hand makes an L too... so in fact if you are forgetful enough (as I am) to muddle left and right, why not muddle the way you hold your hands... its a messy business.
