a film about our strawberries

We've tried loads of strawberries over the years and have realised that Senga Sengana is the variety that tastes best. And seeing as we want our drinks to taste the best, that's the variety we use. Senga isn't grown in the UK, so we go to Poland to get ours. We were there a few weeks ago, and made a little film while we were there.

This season's crop has been excellent - you can taste and see the difference - check out the deep red colour and intense flavour of our strawberries and bananas smoothie at the moment.

You say on 19th September you went to Poland a 'few weeks ago'. I go to Poland regularly, and the strawberry season is June/July. It would also be interesting to know which region you went to. This year in the North they had the worst strawberry season in living memory.

I feel strongly about supporting local farmers, and I still don't get why you have to use a variety of strawberries that is only grown in Poland. UK has great strawberries, and I just do not get why Poland. You say taste and colour, but that's not good enough for me. Ah well, each to their own, I suppose!

Mike - we were in Poland at the end of July, so towards the end of the season. It takes us a while to make these films - we're not so speedy with our editing, and we had to sort the fete out first, which took up loads of our time in August. As for the quality of this year's crop, we can only go on how our strawberries are tasting, and they're tasting pretty special - have a go on one of our strawberries and bananas smoothies and taste for yourself.

Jac - we feel strongly about supporting local farmers too. But it's our responsibility to make the best tasting smoothies possible. Otherwise we'd be selling our drinkers short. The best tasting strawberries we've found are Senga Sengana, and they aren't grown commercially in the UK. We try to limit the impact that this might have, so we don't do anything stupid like air freight them (we don't air freight any of our ingredients).

Check the blog next week for news of a new local smoothie, containing some excellent local ingredients.
