we are 8
Well, we're not eight yet, but nearly there. On Saturday 28th April we will have been selling drinks for eight years. We had a little party yesterday (pics to be posted soon) and ate jelly.
We also made a few limited edition t-shirts. If you'd like to win one, plus a couple of commemorative badges and a candy necklace (ooh), please tell us the best fact you know about the number eight. The provider of our favourite fact gets the stuff.

Happy Happy Birthday.
This is my favourite fact, and I didn't get it from Wikipedia either...
"The amount of cloud in the sky is measured in oktas on a scale from zero to eight. 8 oktas means the sky is totally clouded and totally clear sky measures 0 oktas. A reading of 6 oktas would mean that three-quarters of the sky is overcast."
In South-West London, the sky currenlty measures 8 oktas. But the lady on GMTV said it would clear later, so I'm expecting fewer Oktas by the afternoon...

In baking there are 8 pinches to a teaspoon. Handy hint if you're ever making a birthday cake in a teaspoon-less environment.

Some totally useless facts about the number 8 - (and i will admit i found them all online!)
Dentists have recommended that toothbrushes be kept at least 8 feet away from toilet to avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush.
The average chocolate bar has 8 insect legs in it.
The world's youngest parents were 8 and 9 and lived in China in 1910
1 human being out of 8 is a Chinese farmer
8 is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture because it sounds like the word "prosper". In Northern China, people often say: "If you want to be rich you must stick to the number 8". Dates and times with either a 6 or an 8 have been predominantly chosen as auspicious for important events
Hope your 8th birthday is great!

My interesting fact is that there are 8 pints in a gallon and I could drink gallons and gallons of innocents smoothies (except that's impossible because I would pop!)
Tee hee hee

My favourite 8 related joke is:
Why was 6 afraid of 7?
Because 7 ate(8) 9!
:->)

Happy Birthday innocent folk :)
Not really a fact either but from the picture - if you squint - doesn't your logo look rather eight-ish?
There's also 8 fruits in total in your kids smoothies range...
There's - ehhh - no letter of the alphabet that only 8 of your team have as their first initial - 7 and 9 yes, no 8!
There's 8 letters in innocent
Number 8 on most of the lists of facts I've googled is that "a duck's quack has no echo and no-one knows why"
And sure that's enough :) Congrats again though!

Maybe you could make a new smoothie called
'Eight Raspberry' and you could launch it in the 'Haight Ashbury' district of San Francisco, US?
Kind of a play on words .. get it? I was thinking .. the area is a bit hippy dippy .. you people at innocent are a bit hippy dippy and bohemian and what do we associate San Francisco with? Hippy Dippy Bohemian Free Love!

According to Indian mythology, the Earth is supported on the backs of eight white elephants.
Also, 8 is the atomic number of oxygen, which we all need to live...
"Eight maids a-milking" is the gift on the eighth day of Christmas in the "Twelve Days of Christmas" carol
So with oxygen for folks at innocent to live they can use milk to create yoghurt for the smoothies. Nifty! Not sure how the elephants come in though... perhaps they can squish fruit?

Infinity is really, really big. But if you look at it from the side its 8.
Not the best one I've ever thought of. Sorry.

8 years ago shanks and bigfoot were at number 8 in the charts with sweet
like chocolate. An innocent smoothie might be sweet like chocolate, but
it wont give you as many spots!

Direct from numerology central
Your Birth Day is 8
You have a talent for business, and a good sense of money. Your approach to business is original, creative and daring. You have sound judgment and need the freedom to exercise it, lest you become bitter and tyrannical elsewhere in your life.
All good , but more worryingly 16 is the end of the age of innocent (sic)

Posted by: Modupe | April 28, 2007 at 08:59 PM
OH! and happy birthday innocent! You share a birthday with my Dad! He is 60 now. Hooray!
Posted by: Modupe | April 28, 2007 at 09:01 PM
Happy Birthday. How about when you turn the number 8 upside down, it looks pretty much the same. No other number has that power :) Plus, turn it on it's side and you've got the symbol for infinity. The number 8 really is multi-talented. Have a good one!
Posted by: adam | April 29, 2007 at 01:49 PM
This isn't a fact sorry, but just have to be a complete geek and pick Modupe up on the folding paper 8 times thing. A highschool student in the states recently published a maths research paper proving that you could in fact fold a piece of paper in half 8 times or more.
Just trying to remember where I read about it and I think it might have been one of the links Innocent put out with their weekly newsletter. But anyway, that 'fact' has been proven wrong, which I thought was interesting in itself.
Happy Birthday Innocent - looking forward to getting back to the UK soon and sampling some of your new smoothies.

hi hi
you are meant to get 8 hours sleep a night, but if you drink your innocents, you probably won't need as many as you will be bouncing off the walls with energy and happiness.
8 is also the best number as my Birthday is the 8th November.
Fruitstock also occurs in the 8th month of the year, so it's a pretty special number all round.
most people have 8 fingers (thumbs don't count)(unless they had an unfortunate accident or were born weird) (in a politically correct weird way)
